Aranya Prathet, often abbreviated to just "Aran" by Thais, is a typical border town. The actual border is located a little out of town. Its Cambodian counterpart, Poi Pet, is awash with casinos. Gambling is much loved by many Thais, but illegal in Thailand, so it's always very busy here with local travel. Be aware for scam artists trying to shake a few more dollars from you when getting a Cambodian visa upon arrival. Not necessary, just do it yourself.
